NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Carleton College senior forward Taylor Hanson (St. Paul, Minn./Minnehaha Academy) was recently named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The award recognizes the nation’s top student athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom.
An economics major with a 3.77 GPA, Hanson paces the MIAC with his 9.3 rebounds per game and is seventh in scoring at 14.9 points. He is the top passing post player in the conference, ranking fifth overall with 3.8 assists per game, while his .525 field-goal shooting ranks second among MIAC players with as many attempts.
Hanson is also one of only two Division III men’s basketball players to be averaging over 10.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists while shooting better than .500 from the field.
Hanson is one of two MIAC players and six total athletes to earn a spot on the team in the Award’s District 6, which encompasses Division III schools in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan. Bethel’s Kyle Zimmerman also received this recognition.
The Knights’ star continues a strong program tradition of combining academic and athletic success. Most recently, Tommy Drake ’08 and Scott Theisen ’13 earned a spot on the Academic All-District team during their senior seasons.
