History/Notes:
First year of basketball was 1909...All-time record of 1163-891-2 (thru 2010-11)... Carleton has qualified for the MIAC Tournament 15 of the last 19 seasons and 16 times overall, and appeared in the conference title game for the third time in school history in 2010… The Knights qualified for the NCAA tournament in 2006 and 2010...Coach Guy Kalland is all-time leader in wins at school… A Carleton freshman has placed on the All-Rookie team for the MIAC each of the last eight seasons (Scott Christensen, Tanner Schieck, Anthony Baquero, Kyle Beste, Dan Forkrud, Jake Phillips, Tommy Drake, Zach Johnson, Jay Melson, Bryan Rosett, and Jeremy Sutherland)… Captured three straight MIAC titles from 1920-23...Recorded two undefeated seasons, going 14-0 in both 1915-16 and 1923-24... Had 65 home game winning streak broken by Cornell College on January 11, 1935, which is longest such streak in state collegiate history... Won or shared seven consecutive Midwest Conference championships from 1926-34... Legendary coach Everett Dean is school's lone representative in Basketball Hall of Fame; he coached 1923-24 team to undefeated season, overall record of 40-4 over three seasons. He went on to lead Stanford University to the 1941-42 NCAA Division I Championship, was head coach at Stanford from 1936-55, and also coached at Indiana University from 1924-36, where he led Hoosiers to three Big 10 basketball titles and three Big 10 baseball crowns.
