ST. PAUL, Minn. – Behind All-MIAC honorable mention performances by senior Charlie Gamble (San Diego, Calif./La Jolla) and John Davis (Jr./Eden Prairie, Minn), the Carleton College men’s cross country team placed sixth at this year’s MIAC Championships. The Knights moved up one spot from last year in the standings.
Gamble, who competed well but was not fully recovered from an illness this week, was unable to attack the course in his typical fashion. He crossed the line at 27:01, more than 1:15 behind his time from 2008. Davis posted a time of 27:03 in placing 24th overall. Gamble was also selected to represent Carleton on the MIAC Sportsmanship team.
Freshman Bobby Davis (Eden Prairie, Minn.) and Josh Campbell (Sauk City, Wis./Sauk Prairie) had outstanding races, placing 34th and 40th respectively.
Colin Sinclair (Jr./Madison, Wis./West), Chris Marshall (Sr./Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong), and Blake Hansen (Sr./Seattle, Wash./Lakeside) rounded out the scoring.
The young, but improving, Knights hope to be at full strength when they race at the NCAA Central Regional competition on Sat., Nov. 14 in Grinnell, Iowa.
