Knights Finish Fourth at St. Olaf

By Jeff Dsida '14

Northfield, Minn. - The Carleton College men’s cross country team ran their first full length race of the season after opening the year with a shortened race in Wyoming. The Knights finished fourth among a field of 14 teams. Marcus Huderle (So./Eden Prarie, MN) was the team’s top finisher, finishing 16th overall. Joining him in the top 30 were Jacob Hoerger (So./ Chapel Hill, NC) and Freshman Thor Laack-Veeder (Fy./Madison, WI) finishing 28th and 29th respectively.

Coach Dave Ricks was very happy with the way his team ran, “All in all, we did a great job racing together as a team. We had packs of runners that helped each other along the way. I was very proud with how they worked together.”

The only MIAC team to beat the Knights was host St. Olaf, who finished second scoring 56 points compared to Carleton’s 140. The other two teams to best Carleton were D-II Minnesota State-Mankato (36) and Central College (86).

The Knights run next at The Roy Griak Invitational in St. Paul next Saturday.
