JORDAN, Minn. — The Carleton College men’s golf team teed off the 2014-15 campaign with a first-place result at the eight-team Viking Invitational. The Knights edged host Bethany Lutheran College by three shots, firing a 13-over par 301.
Ned Rohrbach (Jr./Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) paced the Knights with a one-under par 71, good for second place in the 62-player field and one stroke behind Bethany Lutheran’s Jon Pederson stop the leaderboard.
Perry Strong (Fy./Cincinnati, Ohio/Loveland) made his collegiate debut, carding a 2-over par 74, finishing fourth overall. Rookies David Bae (Fy./Round Rock, Texas) and Evan Anderson (Fy./Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater) also got their collegiate careers started on a high note, shooting 77 and 79 as they placed seventh and 12th, respectively.
Jorde Ranum (Sr./Spring Lake Park, Minn./Spring Lake Park) rounded out the Knight’s scoring with an 84.
Brian Herlihy (Jr./Danbury, Conn./Immaculate) and Avery Tribus (Fy./Madison, Wis.) competed in the event as individuals scoring 81 and 76, respectively. Tribus’ 76 was good for a sixth-place finish overall.
The Knights will be back in action this weekend at the Augsburg Fall Invitational contested at Majestic Oaks Golf Club in Ham Lake, Minn.
