NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Down by eight strokes with just the final pairing still on the course, sophomore Ned Rohrbach (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) carded a one-over par 73 to carry the Carleton College men’s golf team to a two-stroke victory over Saint Mary’s University in a dual meet.
Rohrbach lowered his season average to 75.2 strokes per round, a 4.5-shot improvement over his rookie campaign. He finished six shots clear of the nearest SMU player.
An 80 by Jorde Ranum (Jr./Spring Lake Park, Minn./Spring Lake Park) gave him a third place finish individually, and an 82 by Aaron Buckley (Sr./San Diego, Calif./Francis Parker School) helped the Knights prevail at Willingers Golf Course on a blustery Sunday afternoon.
Jeff Berg (Sr./Wood Dale, Ill./Wheaton Academy) rounded out the scoring for Carleton which totaled 326 strokes.
The Knights are next slated to compete from Sept. 28-30 at the Twin Cities Classic hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College. The MIAC Championships will follow one week later.
