MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Brian Chesley (Sr./Mankato, Minn./Mankato West) and Ned Rohrbach (Fy./Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) were among four players to post scores of 79 at the Myrtle Beach Shootout. As a squad, Carleton finished third with a team score of 352.
Chesley and Rohrbach equaled the scores of McDaniel College players James Lillie and Cody Mewhirter. Lillie was awarded medalist honors following a match of cards due to his birdie on the third handicap hole. The match was held on the Love Course at the Barefoot Golf Resort.
Playing in very windy conditions throughout the round, McDaniel College won the team competition with an aggregate score of 318 followed by Rutgers-Camden (339), Carleton (352), and Hobart College (366).
In addition to Rohrbach’s career-best score, Aaron Buckley (Jr./San Diego, Calif./Francis Parker School), Brian Herlihy (Fy./Danbury, Conn./Immaculate), and Jeff Berg (Jr./Wood Dale, Ill./Wheaton Academy) rounded out the tally for Carleton by carding 90, 91, and 92, respectively.
All eight golfers participated for the Knights, but Chesley’s score did not benefit Carleton as he was not one of the five players declared for the team competition prior to the round. Rutgers-Camden and Hobart also saw one of its top two scores suffer a similar fate.
