Knights Drop Out of National Rankings

November 3, 2009 at 2:22 pm

KANSAS CITY, Kan.—In the most recent NSCAA national rankings the Carleton men’s soccer team (14-4, 8-2 MIAC) dropped out of the national rankings after presiding in the No. 23 spot last week. Last week was the first time that the Knights were nationally ranked since the preseason poll. In the NSCAA regional rankings the Knights also dropped two spots from No. 3 to No. 5.

The recent drop in the polls was a result of a 2-0 loss to cross-town rival St. Olaf College on November 1st. The win propelled St. Olaf into the national rankings at No. 24. St. Olaf is the MIAC’s lone representative in the national poll. The Oles also swapped position with the Knights in the regional poll moving into the No. 3 spot.

The other MIAC school joining St. Olaf and Carleton in the regional rankings is the University of St. Thomas at No. 10. The Knights open their quest for the MIAC playoff championship at home at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4th against St. Thomas.
