Men's Soccer hosts Northwestern College

Northfield, Minn. - Bell Field

Result: W 2-0

Perfect 10!

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College men’s soccer team pushed its win streak to 10 games with a 2-0 triumph over visiting Northwestern College. The Knights (12-3) have won 12 of their last 13 contests and are outscoring opponents 25-1 during the victory streak.

After not quite connecting on several strong offensive attacks, Carleton finally got on the scoreboard shorty before halftime. Ryan Cammarota (So./Neenah, Wis) sent a ball from the top of the box over the defense, and Miles Silbert (So./St. Louis Park, Minn.) slotted it past Northwestern keeper Joel Niedermayer with 24 seconds remaining before halftime.

In the 60th minute, Tim Wills (So./Portland, Ore./Central Catholic) was taken down from behind in the box, and the Knights were rewarded with a penalty kick which Ross Hamilton (Sr./Western Springs, Ill.) converted for his fifth goal of the season.

It was the Knights’ final home game of the regular season and Senior Day at Bell Field. During the pre-game introductions, Carleton recognized the contributions the four seniors on the roster: Brett Adelman (Westminster, Colo.), Robert Carlton (Madison, Wis./West), Lyndon DeSalvo (Boxford, Mass./Brooks School), and Hamilton.

Jerry McIntyre (Jr./Broomfield, Colo./Fairview) notched three saves in the shutout, Carleton’s seventh consecutive blanking.

Since Oct. 8, 2006, Carleton is 50-7-6 (.841) overall and a staggering 28-2-3 (.894) in MIAC play.

The loss dropped Northwestern to 4-9-1 on the year, including a 0-5 ledger vs. MIAC teams.

The Knights travel to Colorado this weekend for a pair of matches. First up is a Saturday matchup vs. Ripon College (Wis.) followed by a Sunday afternoon affair with host Colorado College.
