DECORAH, Iowa -- The Carleton College men's soccer team traveled south to face host Luther College under the lights on Wednesday, and the Knights absorbed a 1-0 setback, snapping their seven-game win streak in the series.
The Norse extended their current win streak to four matches as they defeated Carleton for the first time since posting a 1-0 victory in 1998.
Carleton was out-shot 7-4 on the evening, including a 5-1 margin in the first half. This imbalance was reflected on the scoreboard when Luther's Mark Fernandes sent a loose ball into the right corner of the net in the 44th minute.
The Knights had a few more opportunities in the second half but were unable to score, dropping their season record to 2-3-1. Carleton's next game will be this Saturday against Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn. at 1:00 p.m.
