Knights Lose Physical Battle to Carthage, 1-0

By Andrew Harvey '15

KENOSHA, Wis. – In a match that saw 30 fouls called in total, one call in particular cost the Carleton College men’s soccer team dearly, as a free-kick goal led to a 1-0 loss in a road fixture at Carthage College.

The teams played to a scoreless draw in the first 45 minutes, with the Red Men holding a slim 5-3 advantage in shooting. Coming out of the break, Carthage (3-0) quickly won a free kick in the 47th minute atop the Knights’ 18-yard line. Seamus Kaminski stepped up and lofted the kick over the Carleton wall into the left side of the net to record the winning tally. Despite Carleton's best efforts, they were unable to tally an equalizer before time expired.

The Knights next travel to Dubuque, Iowa to face Loras College-ranked No. 2 in the nation by the NSCAA’s preseason polls-on Friday, Sept. 5 at 7:30 p.m.
