ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Carleton College men's swimming and diving team had a busy weekend, splitting a pair of MIAC duals with Gustavus and Saint John's. Junior swimmer Evan Harris (Lexington, S.C.) was tremendous for the Knights in both meets, winning all six of his individual races and helping a pair Carleton relay teams finish first and second over the weekend. For his performance, Harris was named the MIAC Men's Swimming and Diving Athlete-of-the-Week.
Harris was a perfect 4-for-4 in the dual loss at Gustavus. He won the 100-yard breaststroke (59.97), the 200-yard breaststroke (2:13.51) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:00.57) and also helped the 200-yard medley relay (1:38.12) finish first. He was tremendous again against Saint John's as the Knights beat the Johnnies in a dual for the first time in more than a decade. Harris was victorious in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.17), 200-yard breaststroke (2:17.20) and 200-yard individual medley (2:00.40) while also helping the 200-yard medley relay team (1:38.62) finish second. Three of Harris' individual wins came by 2.5 seconds or more, and his six wins came across four different events.
The Knights will be back in action Friday when they host Hamline and Augsburg for a meet at Thorpe Pool at 6 p.m. The Carleton homestand will continue the following Saturday when they host cross-town rival St. Olaf in a dual on the Knights' campus at 11 a.m.
