Knights Nearly Sweep Hamline in Dual Meet
The Carleton College men’s swimming and diving team cruised to a 208-41 victory over Hamline University in the final competition of the fall term. The Knights nearly swept the Pipers, earning first place in 14 of 16 events. Sophomore Griffin Williams was tabbed the Carleton’s swimmer-of-the-meet for his performances in the 100-yard backstroke, 50- and 100-yard freestyle, and the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Freshman Duo Dazzles at Cows, Colleges, and Contentment Classic
The Carleton men’s swimming and diving team was strongly represented in Saturday’s Cows, Colleges, and Contentment Classic hosted by St. Olaf College. The team found plenty to cheer about thanks to the performances of freshmen Erik Klontz and Marmoru Kanazawa who combined to win three events. Additionally, Eric Brenner emerged as the victor in the 3-meter diving competition.

Knights Drop First Dual Meet of the Year to St. Thomas
The Carleton College men’s swimming and diving team came up short against the University of St. Thomas in a dual meet on Friday. First-year Mamoru Kanazawa posted the Knights’ lone victories, winning the 100- and 200-yard freestyle races. He also finshed second in the 100-yard butterfly.

Knights Kickoff Competitive Season at Relay Meet
The Carleton College swimming and diving teams kicked off the 2009-10 swim season by hosting the Carleton/St. Olaf relays. The meet featured nontraditional events with the primary goal of providing opportunities for multiple swims by team members in each event. The entry fee for the nine-school meet was one non-perishable food item per student-athlete. This year an estimated 150 pounds of food were donated to the local Northfield Community Action Food Shelf.

Knights Plunge Into New Year with Alumni Meet
Although the swim season officially began only two days ago, the Carleton College swim teams engaged in their first “competition” of the young campaign as they hosted the annual Alumni/Intra-squad meet.

Knights Earn Scholar All-American Team and Individual Honors
The Carleton College men’s swimming and diving team earned Scholar All-American honors from the College Swim Coaches Association of American (CSCAA). The Knights were ranked 19th in Division III after posting a combined 3.32 grade point average during the 2009 spring term. Carleton also tied for 27th among all men's swim programs in Division I, II, III and NAIA.
