Knights Post Sixth-Best GPA in Nation, Earn All-Academic Honor

NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) today honored Carleton College’s men’s program with distinction as a 2009 USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team. The Knights posted the sixth-best cumulative grade point average (3.410) in Division III.

A total of 51 Division III men’s track and field programs were recognized as 2009 USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Teams. Colorado College recorded the highest overall team GPA at 3.490, followed by Haverford College, which carried a 3.466 team GPA, and Kenyon College (3.450). Massachusetts Institute of Technology (3.440) and Washington University (3.420) rounded out the top five.

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) and the University Athletic Association landed the highest number of member schools on the list, with six schools from each conference attaining All-Academic Track & Field recognition.

The other MIAC programs on the chart are: Macalester College (3.400), Concordia College (3.21), Saint John’s University (3.200), St. Olaf College (3.150), and Gustavus Adolphus College (3.128).

To be nominated, the team must carry a minimum 3.100 cumulative grade-point average.
