Knights Post Sixth-Best GPA in Nation, Earn All-Academic Honor
The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) today honored Carleton College’s men’s program with distinction as a 2009 USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team. The Knights posted the sixth-best cumulative grade point average (3.410) in Division III.

Tom Ballinger Finishes Third at NCAA Championships, Earns All-America Honors for Third Time
For the third consecutive year, senior Tom Ballinger earned All-America honors in the 400-meter hurdles at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. This time he placed third overall, his best showing ever at the national meet, with a season-best time of 52.23.

Ballinger to Race at Nationals
Senior Tom Ballinger, a two-time All-Americanm returns to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships for a third consecutive year as he once again qualified for the 400-meter hurdles. This year’s Division III Championships are being held May 21-23 at Marietta College in Ohio.

Knights Compete at Last Chance Meet
A small contingent of Carleton College athletes participated Thursday night in a last chance meet hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. None of them, however, were able to improve upon their season-best performances turned in at last week’s MIAC Championships.

Hooley '04 Wins Eugene Marathon, Qualifies for Olympic Trials Again
For the second time since graduating from Carleton in 2004, Matt Hooley has qualified for the United States Olympic Marathon Trials. On Sunday, May 3, Hooley fought through the rain to win the Eugene (Ore.) Marathon by nearly eight minutes. In the process, he recorded a United States Olympic Trials “A” standard with his time of 2:18:38.
