Knights Shine at Snowshoe Open

MINNEAPOLIS – With the conference championships only two weeks away, the Carleton College men’s track and field team continues to gain momentum. At the Snowshoe Open hosted by the University of Minnesota, the Knights turned in a handful of attention-grabbing performances.

Noah Laack-Veeder (Fy./Madison, Wis./ LaFollette) and Arnaud Kpachavi (Fy./San Gregorio, Calif./Woodside Priory School) both won their heats and did so in impressive fashion. Laack-Veeder finished fourth overall with a time of 1:23.32, while Kpachavi was seventh at 1:24.17.

Laack-Veeder’s time appears to be a school record, besting the mark of 1:23.84 set by David Boardman in 1994. That would leave Kpachavi’s time third all-time in team history.

Jacob Hoerger (So./Chapel Hill, N.C./Chapel Hill) established a new personal best with a time of 8:53.61 in the 3,000-meter run, more than eight seconds improvement over his seed time. Kian Flynn (Sr./Otis, Ore./Taft) was close behind at 8:54.53.

Colby Seyferth (Fy./Banks, Ore./Banks) advanced to the finals of the 200-meter dash, where he was the top Division III finisher with a person-best time of 22.77.

Carleton will also have contingent compete at St. Olaf College’s Tostrud Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 18.
