NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College men’s track and field team kicked off the competition portion of the schedule by participating in the St. Olaf triangular against the host Oles and Hamline University. Noah Laack-Veeder (Jr./Madison, Wis./LaFollette) captured the Knights’ lone event title, posting a one-second margin of victory in the 1000-meter run.
Laack-Veeder held off the Oles’ Christian Folken for a winning time of 2:34.59. Twin brother Thor Laack-Veeder (Jr./Madison, Wis./LaFollette) placed second in 800-meter run after posting a time of 1:59.24.
Carleton had four other runner-up results. Ben Nicla (So./Suamico, Wis./Bay Port) took second in 60-meter dash at 7.25 seconds. Walter Edstrom (Fy./Plano, Texas/Plano West) ran to a second-place finish in mile run at 4:31.72 with teammate Joe Haase (So./Fitchburg, Wis./West) placing third.
Marcus Huderle (Sr./Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) and Hart Hornor (So./Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt) also recorded a 2-3 finish, this one coming in the 3000-meter run.
Peter Dehkes (Fy./Lebanon, N.J./North Hunterdon) tied for second in the high jump after clearing 1.87 meters on his third attempt.
The Knights next compete at the Minnesota State-Mankato Invitational on Friday, Jan. 31 and Saturday, Feb. 1.
