AMES, Iowa – Racing at the Iowa State Classic–one of the largest NCAA Division I meets of the indoor season, Carleton’s Charlie Gamble (Jr./San Diego, Calif./La Jolla) established a new personal record with a time of 14:38.40 in the 5000 meter run.
That time placed him second in his heat and ranks 10th among NCAA Division III runners this season. Gamble finished 0.28 seconds behind Hunter Mickow of the University of Illinois and was 16th of 40 racers in the event.
Gamble, who has been having an outstanding indoor campaign, recorded the fastest 5000 meter run at the Iowa State Classic by a Carleton runner. That list includes Carleton greats Matt Hooley ’04, Dan Bucy ’05, Steve Harris ’06, Joe Sepe ’08, and Quentin Kennedy ’08.
