The 4x400 meter relay team headlined the Knights performance at the Macalester Twilight. Days after coming in third at the Carleton Relays with a time of 3:20.37, the team won by running the event in 3:19.27. The team consists of Nick Cesarek (Sr./Eagan, Minn./Eastview), Tom Ballinger (Sr./Wenatchee, Wash.), Michael Sanders (Jr./Cedar Falls, Iowa) and Jack Delehanty (Sr./Madison, Wisc./Monona Grove). It was the fastest Carleton 4x400 meter race since 1996. The time is also important because it means that the team averaged less than 50 seconds per runner.
In the 5000 meter run, all of the Knights set new personal records. John Davis (So./Eden Prairie, Minn.) finished third with a time of 15:42. Kian Flynn (Fy./Otis, Ore./Taft) also cracked the top ten completing the run in 16:23.79. Michael Knudson (So./Decorah, Iowa) and Ben Parks (So./Burlington, Conn./Loomis Chaffee) also finished in the top twenty runners.The 4x400 meter relay team continues a busy week with races at the Drake Relays on Friday April 24th and the Sprint Medley Relay on Saturday April 25th. The rest of the Men’s Track and Field team will compete at the Drake Alternative at Gustavus on April 25th.
