Carpenter Wins Hurdles at Tostrud Invite

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College men’s track and field team posted nearly 40 personal-best efforts at the Tostrud Invitational. Adrian Carpenter (So./Menlo Park, Calif./Menlo Atherton) won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.71. The Knights also had a trio of second-place results.

Isaac Schrantz (Fy./Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna) finished second in the 400-meter dash with the fourth-fastest time (50.83) in the MIAC so far this season. He also ran leadoff on the Knights 4x400-meter relay, teaming with Jordan Washam (So./Cincinnati, Ohio/Groton), Arnaud Kpachavi (Fy./San Gregorio, Calif./Woodside Priory School) and Noah Laack-Veeder (Fy./Madison, Wis./ LaFollette) for a season-best time of 3:26.44.

Marcus Huderle (So./Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) turned in a second-place result in the 800-meter run, crossing the line at 1:57.74. Michael Tolan (So./Saint Louis, Mo./John Burroughs) trimmed an incredible seven seconds off his personal record in the same event.

Laack-Veeder continues his amazing rookie season as he turned in an impressive finishing kick during his first-ever mile race. He made up approximately 50 meters over the race’s last 250 meters to catch and pass a Division II racer at the finish line. Laack-Veeder’s year already includes a school-record I the 600-meter dash and the fastest first-year time in the 800-meter run.

The Knights have one more competition on the schedule, next Saturday’s Ole Open Qualifier before attending the MIAC Championships March 2-3 in St. Paul, Minn.
