BERKELEY, Calif. – Colby Seyferth (So./Banks, Ore./Banks) ran, jumped, and threw his way to a seventh-place showing in the decathlon held during the University of California Multi-Events Meet. Teammate C.J. Dale (Sr./Fox Island, Wash. /Charles Wright Academy) placed eighth overall.
There were 13 entrants into this week’s decathlon, including six current or former Division I athletes, three from D-II programs, and two others from NAIA institutions.
Seyferth totaled 5752 points, which is eighth-best in Division III this season, while Dale accumulated 5285 points. Viktor Fajoyomi of USC took the lead after the second event on Thursday and maintained that advantage over the final eight events, finishing with 7078 points, the second-highest figure in Division I so far this season.
Seyferth recorded the top time in the 400-meter dash with a personal-best time of 49.70.
