MINNEAPOLIS — A half-dozen members of the Carleton College men’s indoor track and field team took part in the Snowshow Open hosted by the University of Minnesota. The meet included competitors from all three NCAA divisions. Hart Hornor (So./Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt) had the top finish for the Knights, placing second in the 3000-meter run.
Hornor was the top Division III finisher in the event, crossing the line with a time of 8:29.78, trailing only a runner from D-II Black Hills State by five seconds. That time ranks second in the MIAC this season and is the third best time in school history. Jacob Hoerger (Sr./Chapel Hill, N.C./Chapel Hill) placed 11th in the same event as he recorded a time of 8:52.10.
Jonah Barry (So./Madison, Wis./Madison West) won his heat and took sixth in the 1-mile run at 4:16.45, a clip that ranks third in the MIAC this season and is nine seconds faster than his previous personal-best. Of the five finishers in front of him, three were from host Minnesota (D-I) and another from Minnesota-Duluth (D-II).
Colby Seyferth (Jr./Banks, Ore./Banks) registered an eighth place result in the 600-meter run and set a new personal-best with his time of 1:23.73.
Joe Haase (So./Fitchburg, Wis./West) continued the personal-best trend, as he and Noah Laack-Veeder (Jr./Madison, Wis./LaFollette) placed 10th and 13th overall in the 800-meter run. Their times of 1:56.35 and 1:57.31, respectively, were second and fourth-best among D-III competitors. Haase currently ranks second in the MIAC for this event.
The rest of the Knights squad will compete at the Tostrud Open hosted by St. Olaf College. Field events begin at 11 a.m. with the running events starting at 11:30.
