ST. PAUL, Minn. – Bobby Davis (Sr./Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) and Jacob Hoerger (Jr./Chapel Hill, N.C./Chapel Hill) garnered All-MIAC Honorable Mention as they placed fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 10,000-meter run on the first day of competition at the MIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Both racers posted season-best times as Davis finished in 32:14.76, and Hoerger crossed the line at 32:19.55.
The Knights are sixth with 26.0 points, only 1 point out of fourth place.
In the other track event final held tonight, Noah Laack-Veeder (So./Madison, Wis./LaFollette), Arafat Akinlabi (So./Chicago, Ill./Hubbard), Caleb Flack (Fy./Chicago, Ill./Francis W Parker) and Marcus Huderle (Jr./Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) took fifth in the 4x800m relay, earning All-MIAC Honorable Mention with a season-best time of 7:55.43.
Competing in the day’s first event on the track, senior C.J. Dale (Fox Island, Wash./Charles Wright Academy) finished fourth in the long jump, jumping a season best of 6.71 meters on his final attempt to earn all-conference honorable mention.
Also picking up All-MIAC Honorable Mention was Adan Nunez-Frausto (Jr./Phoenix, Ariz./Brophy College Prep), who threw 46.20 meters in the hammer throw.
A team of Garo Anguino-Sanz (So./Chico, Calif./Chico), Ian Reeves (So./Berkeley, Calif./The College Preparatory School), Ben Nicla (Fy./Suamico, Wis./Bay Port) and Jordan Washam (Jr./Cincinnati, Ohio/Groton) advanced to the 4x100m relay finals, finishing in a season best of 43.26.
Dominating their heats, first-years Joe Haase (Fitchburg, Wis./West) and Jack Percival (Newport Coast, Calif./Sage Hill School) and Laack-Veeder advanced to finals in the 800m dash. Laack-Veeder ran a season best of 1:55.74, Haase did the same in 1:55.98, and Percival qualified in 1:56.45.
The Knights will concluded the MIAC Championships tomorrow, at the University of St. Thomas’ O’Shaughnessy Stadium. Events are scheduled to recommence at 12:00 p.m.
