NORTHFIELD, Minn. — Two-time All-American Tom Ballinger (Sr./Wenatchee, Wash.) returns to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships for a third consecutive year as he once again qualified for the 400-meter hurdles. This year’s Division III Championships are being held May 21-23 at Marietta College in Ohio.
Ballinger earned sixth place at the 2007 championships, crossing the line at 53.25. A year ago he placed seventh in the finals, finishing in 52.16, breaking his own school record.
Six of the nine runners that advanced to the finals in 2008 return to compete is this year’s 16-racer field.
The preliminary round will be held at 5:00 p.m. EDT on Thursday, May 21. Ballinger is slated to run in the second of three heats. Each of the heat winners will advance—along with the next five fastest times—to the finals which will raced on Saturday at 3:15 p.m. EDT.
