CLERMONT, Fla. — The Carleton College softball team came up short in a pair of Saturday afternoon affairs, falling 4-0 to Williams College and 14-0 (5 inn.) to No. 16-ranked Carthage College.
In the first game of the day, Keelin Davis (So./Woodinville, Wash./Woodinville) yielded just one earned run over 6.0 innings in the circle versus Williams. She fanned six and walked three while permitting four hits.
The Knights had opportunities to break out of their collective funk at the plate but went a combined 0-for-9 once again with runners in scoring position.
Game two was decided quickly as Carthage pushed across nine runs—four of them earned—against Davis in the opening frame. Micaela LaRose (Jr./Waconia, Minn./Holy Family) picked up Carleton’s lone base hit against the Lady Reds.
The Knights have little time to dwell on the losses as they have two more games on the slate for Sunday, March 23. First up is a contest against MIT at 5 p.m. local time followed by a meeting with Union College (N.Y.) under the lights at Hancock Park.
