ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The Carleton softball team lost a pair of re-matches on the last day of action at the Sun West Tournament. The Knights began the morning with a 5-1 loss to Middlebury College (Vt.) and wrapped up the tournament with a 9-0 defeat at the hands of Whitworth University (Wash.) Both opponents had hung losses on the Knights earlier in the week.
Karen Robinson (Fy./Bainbridge Island, Wash.) and Sarah Marks (Fy./Brooklyn, N.Y./Packer Collegiate) both had two hits in the opener, accounting for all of Carleton’s base knocks. Robinson singled home senior Hannah Maras (Madelia, Minn.) for the Knights’ lone run on the day.
Maras and Marks were the only Carleton batters to have hits against Whitworth, with both singles coming in the fifth inning.
The Knights (1-9) will play a doubleheader at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday before returning home to open MIAC play on Sunday, March 29 at Saint Mary’s University.
