Knights Drop Pair to Even Florida Trip Record

CLERMONT, Fla. – Kelsey Parsons (Sr./Golden Valley, Minn./Hopkins) had three hits on the day, but the Carleton College softball team’s four-game win streak was snapped with a 4-3 loss to Kalamazoo (Mich.) College and a 5-0 setback versus Union (N.Y.) College.

Micaela LaRose (So./Waconia, Minn./Holy Family) went the distance for the Knights (4-4) in game one. She retired the first nine batters she faced, but the Hornets scored twice in the fourth and added a game-winning, two-run home run in the sixth.

Newcomers Nicole Magats (Fy./La Grange, Ill./Lyons Township) and Keelin Davis (Fy./Woodinville, Wash./Woodinville) had two hits apiece to pace Carleton.

Game two saw Union snap a scoreless tie with a two-out, run-scoring double in the fourth. A frame later, the Dutchwomen blew the game open with a four-run rally, highlighted by Samamtha Chevalier’s two-run blast.

“We played well on defense, but just did not make the adjustments on offense to push some runs across,” said Carleton head coach Amy Erickson. The Knights had runners aboard in six different innings and stranded 10 runners for the game, going 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position.

The Knights will face University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and Loras College on Sunday, March 24. Game times are 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. EDT, respectively
