Knights go unbeaten in Carleton Classic

Northfield, Minn. – Katie Freeman (Sr./Richfield, Minn.) tallied 15 kills and Alivia Bryan (Jr./Eugene, Ore./Churchill) added 13 kills on 17 attempts and four blocks as host Carleton College beat its second nationally-ranked team of the season, dominating the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, 3-0 on Friday.

The Knights (12-1) beat the Titans (8-4), the 18th-ranked team in the latest CSTV/AVCA Division III top 25, by tallying 12.0 team blocks and hitting a solid .278 and holding UW-Oshkosh to .152. Beth Freeman (Sr./Richfield, Minn.) and Sarah Barrow (Sr./Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek) posted seven blocks each to the lead the Knights. Heather La Chapelle (Fy./Eagan, Minn.) added 40 assists and Danielle Hargreaves (So./Brandon, Manitoba) led the Knights with 16 digs.

The Knights completed the perfect evening by sweeping the University of Dubuque, 3-0.

On Saturday the Knights again were dominant, defeating Buena Vista University 3-0, to bring their tournament record to a perfect 3-0. They placed two players on the All-tournment team, seniors Beth Freeman and Sarah Barrow.

Fellow MIAC school Gustavus Adolphus College also finished the tournament undefeated as they defeated the same three schools that the Knights did. This marks the second consecutive weekend tournament that the Knights and Gusties have participated in together with each team compiling perfect records without facing one another. The two teams will face each other twice during MIAC play.
