MIAC Volleyball Awards Press Release

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced the 2011 MIAC Volleyball Awards, and Carleton College libero Erin Anderson (Sr./Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy) and middle hitter Jessa Youso (Jr./Virginia, Minn.) were named to the All-MIAC First Team. It is the first all-conference honor for both players.

Anderson paced the Knights in digs with 5.01 per set, fourth among MIAC competitors. She also had the team-high for service aces with 29 total for 0.33 per set.

Youso led the Knights offensively with 2.67 kills per set and a .339 hitting percentage, the latter figure ranked second in the MIAC. She was also a defensive force, topping the roster in blocks with 0.84 per set.

As part of a conference-wide sportsmanship initiative, the MIAC also announced the sixth annual All-MIAC Sportsmanship team. Carleton coaches and players selected Elissa Walter (Jr./ Aspen, Colo.) to represent the Knights as a player who demonstrates the ideals of positive sportsmanship, both on and off the field of competition.
