Eckhoff, Barsness Receive MIAC Awards
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- A pair of Carleton College volleyball players received recognition from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) for their skill on the court this season. Laura Barsness was named Defensive Player of the Year for the second time and middle hitter Annie Eckhoff earned her first All-MIAC selection.

Lovett Earns Academic Honor
Carleton College junior Kelly Lovett was named to the 2009 CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Third Team. In her first season as a starter, she showed an impressive all-around game, pacing the Knights in kills and ranking second in digs.

Season Ends with 3-1 Loss to St. Olaf
The Carleton College volleyball team saw its season draw to a close following a 3-1 loss to No. 22 St. Olaf College. The match—which the Oles won 25-15, 25-21, 28-30, and 25-21—also marked the end of the collegiate playing career for the three seniors on the Knights roster: libero Laura Barsness, middle hitter Annie Eckhoff, and right-side attacker Sarah Halls.

Knights Knocked From Playoff Contention by Auggies
The Carleton College volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision at Augsburg College. Senior Annie Eckhoff had seven kills and a career-best 10 blocks assists for the Knights (13-10, 3-7 MIAC), who were eliminated from playoff contention. Augsburg prevailed by scores of 25-22, 25-10, 19-25 and 25-12

Knights Downed by Pipers
The Carleton College volleyball team (13-9, 3-6 MIAC) spent most of the match trying to play catch up before getting swept at Hamline University, 25-18, 25-21 and 25-22. Annie Eckhoff and Kelly Lovett paced the Knights with eight kills apiece.

Knights Swept by No. 10 St. Thomas
Slow starts doomed the Carleton College volleyball team in a 3-0 loss to national No. 10 University of St. Thomas on Wednesday, 25-21, 25-19, and 25-16. Senior middle hitter Annie Eckhoff led the Knights with 10 kills and four blocks.
