ST. PETER, Minn. – The Carleton volleyball team concluded its time at the Gustavus Classic with a 2-1 record following wins on Saturday over Martin Luther College and the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Libero Laura Barsness (Sr./Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North) and right-side attacker Sarah Halls (Edina, Minn.) were named to the six-player all-tournament squad.

The Knights were back on the court at noon against the Falcons and rallied for the 25-21, 19-25, 25-17, 27-25 victory.

Carleton trailed 19-15 in the opening set but closed on a 10-2 run. After dropping the second set, the Knights jumped out to a 10-3 advantage in the third set and didn’t look back.

Kelly Lovett (Jr./Portland, Ore./Lincoln) led Carleton with 12 kills in the second match, but it was the play of Annie Eckhoff (Northfield, Minn.) that proved crucial down the stretch.

First-year middle hitter Jessa Youso (Virginia, Minn.) hit .417 overall and closed out the set and the match with back-to-back kills.

Beth Jarrett (Jr./Mounds View, Minn./Irondale) had 26 assists while Barsness (15) and Erin Anderson (11) led the team in digs.

The Knights open conference play when the host St. Catherine University on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at West Gym. The match begins at 7 p.m., and Knights Online will carry a live video webcast.
