NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday, sweeping Buena Vista University before falling to University of Wisconsin-Superior in the concluding match of the Carleton Triangular. Karen Halls (So./Edina, Minn./Edina) had eight kills in each match.
The Knights posted a .364 team attack percentage in the opener, their third-best figure of the season. Against UW-Superior, Carleton hit only .140 as a team, the fourth-lowest mark on the year.
Middle hitters Halls and Jessa Youso (Sr./Virginia, Minn./Virginia) each had eight kills in the opener as Carleton recorded a 25-7, 25-9, 25-19 victory.
Youso, who ranks third among all MIAC players with a .365 attack percentage, was the most dominant Knight in the late match, tallying 11 kills with no errors on 20 attempts (.550). Despite that performance by the co-captain, the Knights dropped a 25-15, 25-22, 25-22 decision.
Setter Alicia Flatt (So./Walnut Creek, Calif./Carondelet) notched 14 digs to go along with 30 assists.
With a 15-6 overall ledger, Carleton has its most victories since 2007, the last time the Knights advanced to the NCAA Championship.
Carleton travels to Augsburg College on Wednesday, Oct. 10 for a 7 p.m. match
