Women's Basketball Announces 2014-15 Recruiting Class

Carleton College head women's basketball coach Cassie Kosiba and her staff are proud to announce the addition of nine student-athletes, who will join the Knights for the 2014-2015 season. The class of 2018 is comprised of players representing six states and varying academic interests.

"We are very excited to add such a great group of young ladies to the program," Kosiba said. "They possess the academic and athletic excellence to perform at a high level, and are all exceptional people off the floor. We look forward to working with the group this fall in their pursuit of their academic and athletic goals.

"These athletes, along with a talented group of returners, will give our team the depth of talent that is required to compete consistently in a league like the MIAC.”

Carleton Women’s Basketball Class of 2018:

Lynn Daniel (Lafayette, Colo./Centaurus HS): A 5-foot-9-inch forward who averaged 6.9 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in 2013-14 with a single game high of 18. Was named captain her senior season. Plans to major in Chemistry and Mathematics.

Nnenna Ezem (Berkeley, Ill./Proviso West Academy HS): A 6-foot-1-inch forward who averaged 6.7 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks her senior season. Was twice her team’s MVP and was all-conference and all-academic in both her junior and senior years. In 2013-14, Nnenna was named honorable mention All-Area by the Chicago Tribune.  Will pursue a Biology major.

Kayla Frank (Tacoma, Wash./Emerald Ridge HS): A 6-foot-1-inch post who averaged 5.0 points, 8.1 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 3.3 blocks per game this past year. Was a three-year starter and was voted Most Valuable and Most Inspirational by her teammates. Kayla was also named Honorable Mention All-South Puget Sound Area in 2013-2014. Hopes to study computer science or physics and continue her work with Special Olympics.

Wendy Lo (Los Angeles, Calif./John Marshall HS): A 5-foot-5-inch guard who led her team to a state playoff berth, and three city championship tournaments. Was named First Team All-League three times and was named First Team D3 All-CIF this past year. Had 1000+ points, 300+ assists, and 300+ steals in her career. Will be an Economics major.

Katherine Miles (Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South HS): A 6-foot forward who was named Scholar-Athlete in both volleyball and basketball for Maine South. Will play volleyball and basketball for Carleton. Was a State Three-Point Shooting Contest participant and was named an All Conference Volleyball Player. Will major in Environmental Science and English.

Maya Okamoto (Altadena, Calif./ Flintridge Prep HS): A 5-foot-5-inch guard who averaged 7.5 points, 2.1 assists, and nearly 2 steals per contest in 2013-14. Was named a captain for her team this year. Was named All-League for four straight seasons, Second Team as a senior. Her major is undecided.

Sarah Paller (Brooklyn, NY../ Berkeley Carroll HS): A 5-foot-6-inch guard who led her team to the PSAA Championship,and was named tournament MVP for her efforts.  Was named ACIS All Conference in 2014. Averaged 13 points, 8 assists, and 3 rebounds per game her senior season. A career 1000-point scorer. Is considering a Psychology major.

Kaya Stitzhal (Seattle, Wash./Seattle Academy HS): A 6-foot-2-inch post who will play both Basketball and Ultimate Frisbee while attending Carleton. Led her team to a 20-6 record and was the Coach’s Award Winner this season for her academic and athletic prowess as well as her service to her school and community. Will major in Physics and Astronomy together with Chinese here at Carleton.

Sarah Waldfogel (Minneapolis, Minn./ The Blake School): A 5-foot-11-inch forward who averaged 19.5 points per game in 2013-2014. Was a two-year captain and Team MVP, and was named All Tri-Metro Conference on two occasions. Scored 1,262 points in her Blake career. Will major in Economics.
