Like all average Carleton students, the freshmen on the women's basketball team wanted to dress up for the sugar-high holiday of Halloween. There is no better way to spend a weekend afternoon than with your four best friends wearing crazy outfits and eating more candy than we gave away to the citizens of Northfield who came for a night of fun and food at Carleton's Halloween Carnival in the Rec Center. The five basketball freshmen were proud to boast not only a Medieval princess and a polar bear, but also the cute and cuddly couple of Shrek and Fiona, accompanied a Carleton basketball player at the free throw station to start off the Carnival. There were many gallant efforts by young Disney princesses, Iron Men, and cowboys to knock down free throws, and overcome the scare of the Shrek mask (worn by fellow player, Megan Meads). All in all, most of the candy was consumed by one child or another, many free throws were made, and only six children cried due to the ferocity of Shrek's green face.
