ST. PAUL, Minn. – Senior Jessa Youso (Virginia, Minn./Virginia) came off the bench to lead the Knights in scoring as the Carleton College women’s basketball team absorbed a 69-35 loss at the hands of the University of St. Thomas.
St. Thomas, which advanced to the Final Four last season and was ranked No. 12 in the nation this year before losing three games last week, bounced back behind a career-best 20-point effort by Jenna Dockter. The currently un-ranked Tommies raced to an 18-2 lead and never looked back.
Carleton shot only 21 percent in the first half and 32 percent for the game. Meanwhile the Tommies made 50 percent of their attempts.
Skylar Tsutsui (So./Northridge, Calif./Harvard Westlake) added seven points to the Carleton effort.
The Knights road trip concludes with a doubleheader at Saint Mary’s University on Saturday, Feb. 2. The women’s game begins at 1 p.m. with the men’s contest scheduled for 3 p.m. Live audio of both games can be heard on KDHL 920 AM in the Northfield/Faribault area and worldwide on Knights Online.
