ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Skylar Tsutsui (Jr./Northridge, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) posted her ninth career 20-point game while Jenny Ramey (Sr./Cottage Grove, Minn./New Life Academy) added 15 points and Michele Arima (So./Valencia, Calif./West Ranch) chipped in 13, but it was not enough as the Carleton College women’s basketball team dropped an 80-63 result to Macalester College.
Macalester (3-11, 2-9 MIAC) shot a blistering 74 percent from the field in the first half and 59 percent for the contest. Meanwhile, Carleton (4-10, 2-9 MIAC) was struggled to get the offense rolling, converting 29 percent of its field-goal attempts for the evening.
After the Knights scored the first four points of the contest, Macalester put together a 30-6 run spanning the next 11 minutes and maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
Emma Purfeerst (Sr./River Falls, Wis./River Falls) and Gabbi Stienstra (So./St. Paul, Minn./Minnehaha) rounded out the scoring for Carleton with eight and seven points, respectively.
Erin Murray led the hosts with 21 points, while Katelyn Kack and Park Masterson contributed 10 points apiece.
Carleton will look to snap its slide when the Knights host cross-town rival St. Olaf College on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 5:45 p.m. The President’s Cup will be at stake. Both ends of the women’s-men’s doubleheader can be heard on KDHL 920AM, and live video will be available via Knights Online.
