NORTHFIELD, Minn.––Carleton College sophomores Kelsey Moede (Lake Oswego, Ore.) and Taylor Wells (Rochester, Minn./Century) have been named to the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-Midwest region team.

Carleton was one of three regional programs to place two players on the 10-player squad. The other two were Gustavus Adolphus College and St. Olaf College.

Moede led the Knights with a school-record 79.95 stroke average in a breakout sophomore season, earning all-region honors for the first time. Her season highlight came in a runner-up finish at the 2012 MIAC Championships, finishing one shot back of first place. She tallied nine top 10 finishes in 10 starts, and recorded five finishes of fifth or better. She tied the 36-hole school record with her eight-over par 152 at the Division III Classic.

Wells is a repeat all-region selection, the first player in Carleton women’s golf history to earn the honor in her first two seasons. Wells’ 81.32 stroke average ranks fourth on the school’s all-time list, while her 81.17 career stroke average is the lowest in school history. Also a two-time All-MIAC honoree, Wells recorded six top-10 finishes this season, with her best finish coming at the Wartburg Fall Invite where she fired a school-record eight-over par 152. She also set a school record at the conference tournament with her second-round, even-par 72. She owns four of the lowest 12 rounds in school history.
