2014-15 Season Preview

The Carleton College women's golf team returns a deep, talented lineup for 2014-15. The Knights won their last tee it up for the first time this season at the UW-Eau Claire Georgianni Memorial Invitational on Aug. 30-31.

What You Need to Know

Head Coach
• Eric Sieger (14th season)

A Year Ago
• 2nd place at the MIAC Championships (952 strokes, one shot out of first place)… The Knights recorded eight top-three finishes in 10 events in 2013-14, including victories in the final three events of the spring season… ended up as the top-ranked Division III team in the upper Midwest (Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois) by both Golfstat and the Women's Golf Coaches Association.

Sept 13-14 — Carleton hosts the D3 Classic at The Jewel Golf Club in Lake City, Minn.
Sept. 20 — The Knights host the College City Challenge at Bellwood Oaks Golf Club in Hastings, Minn.
Oct. 4-5-6 — MIAC Championships at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids, Minn.
The Spring 2015 schedule has not been announced.

• Kelsey Moede (Sr. | All-Region and All-MIAC in both 2013 and 2014; five top-10 finishes last year including sixth place at 2013 MIAC Championships)
• Taylor Wells (Sr. | All-Region in 2012 and 2013; three-time All-MIAC selection)
• Grace Gilmore (Jr. | All-Region and All-MIAC in 2014; six top-10 finishes including seventh place at 2013 MIAC Championships)
• Shannon Holden (So. | WGCA All-America honorable mention in 2014; All-Region in 2014; MIAC individual champion in 2013; MIAC Rookie of the Year; led MIAC in stroke average [79.00, a new Carleton record] during 2013-14 season)
• Geraldine Tellbuescher (So. | All-MIAC as a rookie; finished 10th at MIAC Championships; posted second-lowest spring season average in the region; six top-10 results)

By the Numbers
• 1: Carleton finished one stroke behind St. Thomas at the 2013 MIAC Championships
• 17: Carleton concluded the 2013-14 season ranked No. 17 in the WGCA coaches poll.
• 323.9: The Knights established a school record as they posted the lowest stroke average in the MIAC during the 2013-14 season

Did You Know?
• Head Coach Eric Sieger was selected as the MIAC Co-Coach of the Year and was later tabbed the Midwest Region Coach of the Year

Off the Course
• Taylor Wells was selected to the 2014 CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large Team. She missed the fall portion of the 2013-14 season to participate in a study-abroad experience in Namibia
