NORTHFIELD, Minn.—For the second time in her young, storied career, sophomore Taylor Wells (Rochester, Minn./Century) has been named the MIAC’s golfer of the week after her record-setting weekend performance.
Wells, an All-MIAC and NGCA All-Region performer a year ago, set new Carleton scoring records with an opening-round, one-over par 73 at the Wartburg Invitational’s first round and a two-day total of eight-over par 152 following her second round 79. Wells’ performance gave the Knights three players in the top 10 in the event and pushed the Knights to a fourth-place finish, ahead of three nationally-ranked teams.
She finished second in the event, her second career runner-up finish and seventh top-10 finish in 10 tournaments.
The Knights are back in action on Saturday and Sunday, hosting the Division 3 Classic at The Jewel Golf Club in Lake City, Minn., on September 15-16.
