September 6, 2009 at 10:04 pmThe first tournament is in the books, and it was a very solid weekend for the Knights at the Doug Georgianni Memorial, as they finished fifth and ahead of three nationally-ranked teams.

September 4, 2009 at 9:26 amThe Knights are ready for the start of the 2009-10 season, and a surprise theme comes through in examining the start of the season--studying abroad.
Summer Update: Johnson Repeats, Buckler Gives Back to Game
July 31, 2009 at 4:38 pmIt's been a busy summer on many different fronts for members of the Carleton golf team, with Traci Johnson and Louise Buckler garnering some awards and media attention, respectively. Traci repeated as the Northfield Golf Club women's club champion, while the junior golf program Louise has worked with for a number of years was recently in a St. Paul Pioneer Press feature.

Another Great Trip to Jekyll Island
March 27, 2009 at 11:10 amThe Carleton Knights, for the third straight year, opened its spring season by traveling to Jekyll Island, Ga. It was a great way for the team to start off the season with a few days of practice leading up to the Jekyll Island Collegiate, one of the most competitive Division III tournaments in the past decade.
What a Great 2008!
December 22, 2008 at 1:06 pmAs the end of the calendar year draws near, I find myself reflecting on the past 12 months of Carleton Women's Golf. It was an exciting and record-breaking year, as we were ranked for basically the entire year (a program first), sent our second individual qualifier to the NCAA Championships, notched our best finish ever at the MIAC Championships and had two All-MIAC players for the first time. I'm looking forward to seeing us carry that momentum into 2009.
A Peak Performance
October 9, 2008 at 9:46 pmWell, the MIAC Championships has been over for a few days, allowing me some time to reflect on our team's performance. Every time I think of the way we played this weekend, I swell with pride and satisfaction knowing that we played to our potential and stayed mentally strong throughout the championship, reaching our goal of a top-three finish.
The Night Before
October 3, 2008 at 8:11 pmIt's the night before the MIAC Championships, and it will be interesting to see how the next three days progress. I hope the girls sleep well, but I know I won't. While every coach tries to treat each tournament or competition, no matter how big or small, the same, I know as a player there's no way going into a big tournament to not have a few more butterflies.
Ryder Cup Reflections
September 22, 2008 at 9:39 amThe Ryder Cup, one of my favorite sporting events, concluded yesterday with the clutch, underdog American squad taking the Cup back for the first time since 1999. While major-championship golf is hard to beat in terms of pressure, the passion, determination and fortitude shown by both sides during the three-day competition was pretty amazing.
Golf the Yoda Way
September 14, 2008 at 9:46 pmWell, another weekend is in the books for the Carleton golf team. It was a wet weekend, with rain soaking the 15-team, 98-player field for just about the entire weekend. We needed the rain in Minnesota, but couldn't it have rained during the week or overnight? At any rate, the Knights struggled a bit in Saturday's first round but rebounded on Sunday, and I think we need to channel Yoda a bit more.
Wood Named MIAC Player of the Week
September 9, 2008 at 5:20 pmFor the first time in her career, senior Katrina Wood was named the MIAC Player of the Week after two solid finishes on our trip to Wildflower Golf Course in Detroit Lakes, Minn. Katrina fired a six-over par 78 in Friday's Cobber Open, falling in a four-way, sudden-death playoff, and then rallied with a final-round, three-over par 75 to finish solo fourth at the Concordia Invitational behind three Division I players. Her 75 tied the school record.
