    Lamb, Hansen, Taube, and Beson Award Winners Announced for 2012-13

    In conjunction with Carleton’s annual Honors Convocation, the Physical Education, Athletics, and Recreation (P.E.A.R.) Department announced its annual senior awards. Sophie Pilhofer and Jessa Youso received the Pat Lamb Award. Megan Morrison and Sarah Nielsen are the recipients of the Ele Hansen Award. CJ Dale was honored with the Mel Taube Award, while Erik Klontz was given the Warren L. Beson Memorial Award.

    Three Knights Earn NSCAA Scholar All Region Award

    The Carleton College women’s soccer team is known for their success both on the pitch and in the classroom, as the Knights have the highest total number of National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) academic awards among MIAC teams and have won the regular-season crown two out of the last three years. Recently, the squad picked up a few more honors, as three Knights earned NSCAA Scholar All-Region Awards.

    Hartman-Filson Named All-Region for Second Time

    Senior Marlena Hartman-Filson picked up her second career All-Region recognition as she was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-North Region third team.

    Knights Earn NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 12th Straight Year

    The Carleton College women's soccer team has earned the the National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s (NSCAA) Team Academic Award for the 12th consecutive year. The Knights have earned this honor every year since 2001, the longest streak among all MIAC teams. Carleton was one of 150 schools in the nation to have both its men’s and women’s programs receive this award, making this the 12th consecutive year that the Knights have earned double academic recognition.

    Trio Earns All-MIAC Honors

    Three members of the Carleton College women’s soccer team received recognition as the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) handed out its all-conference awards. Junior defender Layne Teska was named to the All-MIAC first team, while senior midfielder Marlena Hartman-Filson and rookie goalkeeper Mikayla Coulombe were tabbed All-Conference Honorable Mention.

    Season Closes with Loss at St. Olaf

    The season drew to a close for the Carleton College women’s soccer team (7-6-4, 3-5-3 MIAC) with a disappointing result against cross-town rival St. Olaf College. Despite out-shooting the hosts 18-13, including 13-6 in shots on goal, the Knights absorbed a 2-1 setback after a late goal gave the Oles the victory and a spot in the MIAC Playoffs.
