Carleton couldn’t muster enough offense to keep their three-game winning streak alive falling to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, 2-1.
Eau Claire dominated the first half, earning seven shots, but only managing to score on one of them.
The Blugolds scored again early in the second half, but the Knights battled back and had several offensive chances. However, they were unable to break through until the 89th minute when Amy Holmes (San Francisco/ University) knocked in a pass from Caitlin Coomes (Hudson, Wis./ Mounds Park Academy) for Carleton’s lone score.
Sarah Grafnosky (Dover, Mass./ Winsor School) had two saves for Carleton and Megan Brady had three saves for Eau Claire.
The loss dropped Carleton to 6-5 overall. The Knights return to action on Oct. 14, visiting St. Mary’s University in Winona.
