Emily Meyer (Readfield, Maine/ Maranacook) finished her Carleton career with style scoring two goals to lead the Knights past St. Olaf 6-2. Meyer started off the scoring for the Knights in the 22nd minute when Amy Holmes (San Francisco/ University) flicked a header off a corner kick to find Meyer open in front of the goal.
When the Olies battled back to 2-1, Stephanie Johnson (Tiburon, Calif./ Redwood) stemmed the tide with a 20 yard rocket off an assist from Caitlin Coomes (Hudson, Wis./ Mounds Park Academy).
Meyer and Holmes hooked up again right before halftime finishing the scoring spurt of two goals in two minutes for Carleton.
Coomes had her second multi-goal game of the season scoring two unassisted goals, including a heady play in the 32nd minute when she intercepted the goalkeeper’s pass and ripped a shot into the back of the net.
Elizabeth Marsters (Denver/ Kent Denver School) scored Carleton’s final goal early in the second half off a booming corner kick from Stella Sculte.
This was the final game for graduating seniors Holmes, Johnson, Britt Kringle, Stephanie Lee, Meyer, and Schulte
The win gave Carleton a 6-4-1 conference record and sole possession of fifth place in the MIAC just missing out on the playoffs.
The Knights’ 9-7-1 record overall marks the 13th time in the program’s history that they finished above .500 and the fourth time in five years that they reached that mark.
