Scots End Knights Win Streak

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Carleton College women’s soccer team lost 1-0 to host Macalester College in a game played under the lights on the Scots’ home turf. The loss snapped the Knights’ (4-5-1, 2-2 MIAC) three-game win streak and dropped them into a three-way tie for fifth place in the MIAC standings.

The lone goal of the contest came in the 23rd minute when Emily Bardwell deposited the ball in the back of the Carleton net for her sixth goal of the season. Macalester keeper Tressa Versteeg made five saves to make that score stand up.

With the win, the Scots (6-2-2, 2-1-1 MIAC) moved into fourth place with a month remaining on the regular-season schedule.

Kate Trenerry (Jr./Rochester, Minn./Century) made six saves for Carleton.

The Knights travel to St. Joseph, Minn. to face the College of Saint Benedict on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 1 p.m. That contest will conclude a stretch that sees Carleton play only two of 10 games at home.
