Women's Soccer vs. Montclair State University

Saturday, August 31st, 2013 – 2:00 p.m. at Wheaton, Ill. - Joe Bean Stadium

Knights Clipped by No. 23 Montclair State

WHEATON, Ill – The difficult early-season schedule continued for the Carleton College women’s soccer team on Saturday, with the Knights (1-1) absorbing a 1-0 setback against national No. 23 Montclair State University on day two of the Bob Baptista Invitational hosted by Wheaton College.

“Today's game was very physical and fast paced,” explained Carleton head coach Jocelyn Keller. The two squads combined for 30 shots and 14 fouls.

Goalkeeper Mikayla Coulombe (So./Crystal, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's) was busy, collecting 10 saves, the second-highest total of her career. The Red Hawks put 11 shots on goal and broke the deadlock with a goal in the 52nd minute.

“Montclair was strong and confident all over. But our first years were able to contribute a lot, and once again we are looking to get better playing some of the best,” said Keller.

Carleton returns for its home opener on Tuesday, Sept. 3 with an 11 a.m. match against University of California-Santa Cruz. The Banana Slugs will be facing their third straight MIAC opponent and have already tallied a victory over No. 17 Concordia.
