In conjunction with Carleton’s annual Honors Convocation, the Physical Education, Athletics, and Recreation (P.E.A.R.) Department announced its annual senior awards. Sophie Pilhofer and Jessa Youso received the Pat Lamb Award. Megan Morrison and Sarah Nielsen are the recipients of the Ele Hansen Award. CJ Dale was honored with the Mel Taube Award, while Erik Klontz was given the Warren L. Beson Memorial Award.

Sophie Pilhofer saw the curtain come down on her collegiate swimming career as she placed 18th in the 100-yard freestyle on the final day of competition at the NCAA Division III Swimming Championships. Pilhofer turned in a time of 51.74, missing a spot in the consolation final by 0.11 second.

Although she did not qualifiy for the finals in the 100-ayrd butterfly, senior Sophie Pilhofer still had a successful second day at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships as she established a new personal record when she touched the wall at 58.00.

Carleton College senior Sophie Pilhofer became the 15th member of the women’s swimming and diving program to earn All-America status, and the ninth to do so in an individual event when she grabbed third place in the finals of the 50-yard freestyle at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships.

The NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships will be held March 20-23 at the Conroe ISD Natatorium, Shenandoah, Texas. The Knights have five swimmers participating. Each day includes the preliminary round beginning at 10 a.m. with the top 16 advancing to the evening finals, which get underway at 6 p.m. Live video of each session of the championships is being provided on NCAA.com. Sophie Pilhofer posted a NCAA “B” cut time and placed second in the 100-yard freestyle on the final day of action at the MIAC Swimming and Diving Championships. The Carleton College women finished fifth in the team competition.
