NORTHFIELD, Minn. - On Saturday, the Carleton Women's Swimming and Diving team competed in the Cows, Colleges and Contentment Classic co-hosted with St. Olaf. There were no team results for the meet, as the Carleton swimmers signed up for their own events, allowing them to explore different events than they usually swim.
Alison Coogan (Fr./River Forest, Ill/Oak Park & River Forest) was swimmer of the meet finishing fifth in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.73. Coogan also placed eighth in both the 200 yard IM and the 200 yard breaststroke.
Teammate Maggie Alexander (Sr./Tigard, Ore./Tualatin) placed just ahead of Coogan in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:20.36. Annie Metcalf (Sr./Bath, Maine/Morse) came in fifth in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:16.21
In their last event of the day, a relay of Sophie Pilhofer (Jr./Inver Grove Heights, Minn/Visitation), Alexander, Metcalf, and Erin McDuffie (Jr./Anchorage, Alaska/Service) finished fourth with a final time of 1:43.09, just 0.09 seconds after third-place finishers St. Olaf.
Next up for the Knights is the Ted Mullin “Hour of Power” at the Thorpe Pool. This nationwide fundraiser for cancer research is set to begin at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8.
