NORTHFIELD, Minn. – For the 11th consecutive year, the Carleton College women’s tennis team was recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for achieving All-Academic Team status. The Knights are the only MIAC tennis program—male or female—to receive this award every year since its inception in 2002.

Given to ITA programs with a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher, this award recognizes outstanding academic achievement during the 2011-12 season. The Knights are one of the 87 NCAA Division III women's tennis programs named a 2012 ITA All-Academic Team. Joining Carleton on the list this season were Hamline University, St. Olaf College, and the University of St. Thomas.

In addition to the team award, five Knights were also honored as ITA Scholar-Athletes. To be recognized as an individual award winner, players must be letter winners and have a grade point average of at least 3.50. Beret Fitzgerald ’15 (Glencoe, Minn./Saint John's Prep), Felicity Flesher ’14 (Oxford, Miss./Oxford), Erin Gudul ’12 (North Oaks, Minn./Mounds View), Kathryn Schmidt ’12 (Hopkins, Minn./Hopkins), and Erin Wilson ’14 (Novato, Calif./Marin Academy) were among 17 MIAC female student-athletes chosen as ITA Scholar-Athletes.
