HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Carleton College women’s tennis team opened its spring break trip with a 6-3 setback in a matchup of regionally-ranked squads. The Knights entered the match ranked No. 7 in the central region, one spot ahead of their opponent, Oberlin College.

The Knights (7-3) lost two of three at doubles, with the lone victory coming at the third spot where Katherine Greenberg (Jr./St. Louis, Mo./Clayton) returned to the lineup and teamed with Molly Hemes (Jr./Green Bay, Wis./Preble) for a decisive 8-1 triumph.

In singles, the win came at the fourth and sixth spots, with rookies Mikayla Becich (Bradfordwoods, Pa./North Allegheny) and Joyce Yu (Taipei, Taiwan/Taipei American School) both winning in straight sets.

A pair of regionally-ranked players locked up at first singles, where No. 7 Farah Leclercq edged Bridget Doyle (Sr./Mendota Heights, Minn./Visitation) by a 7-5, 6-4 margin.

The Knights face national No. 5 University of Chicago on Tuesday, March 26. The Maroons bounced Carleton from the NCAA Championships last season.
