Knights Cruise Past Pipers

LAKEVILLE, Minn. – First-year Caroline Greenberg (St. Louis, Mo./Clayton) was one of four players to prove victorious in both singles and doubles play as the No. 29-ranked Carleton College women’s tennis team posted a 9-0 triumph over Hamline University.

The Knights (4-0, 2-0 MIAC) did not drop a game during doubles action as Anne Lombardi (Sr./Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) and Joyce Yu (So./Taipei, Taiwan/Taipei American School) prevailed at the top spot, Mikayla Becich (So./Bradfordwoods, Pa./North Allegheny) and Katherine Greenberg (Sr./St. Louis, Mo./Clayton) won by an 8-0 score at second doubles, and Caroline Greenberg and Grace Davis (So./Neenah, Wis./Neenah) finished with an identical score in the third slot.

All six singles matches went to Carleton in straight sets. Continuing their dominating play from doubles, neither Yu nor Katherine Greenberg dropped a game at second and third singles. Caroline Greenberg registered a 6-1, 6-1 victory while Davis stayed undefeated in singles this season with a 6-3, 6-2 result.

Claire Spencer (So./Newport News, Va./Menchville) played atop the lineup, posting a 6-0 and 6-4 win. Julia Krumholz (So./Hingham, Mass./Hingham) notched the other win, prevailing 7-5 and 6-3 at fifth singles.

Carleton returns to the court on Saturday, Feb. 15 with a 4:30 p.m. match at College of Saint Benedict.
